'Twas the Night Before Christmas

Stacey Alcorn

‘Twas the eve before Christmas, when all throughout LAER

Agents were still working, the market so fair.

Home inspections all scheduled, and all offers in

It was time to wind down, and take it all in.

The iPad was nestled all snug in its bed;

While MLS updates made sure all the IDXs were fed.

I closed up my briefcase, and shut the office lights off with cheer

It was time to get going, Christmas was almost here.

When out in the office parking lot there arose such a clatter,

I turned all the lights back on, perhaps there was a new customer to flatter!

I sprang up from my desk, turned on my PC,

I printed a hot sheet for this new customer to see!

I opened the door, hoping my new customer would be quick.

I could barely believe it, but it was St. Nick!

“Stables, and acreage, and privacy galore.”

“I need a great agent. One who can ROAR.”

He was all you would think St. Nick would be.

Big, round, and jolly, and so very happy.

He went on to explain that he needed a new home.

Where Mrs. Claus could relax, and where his reindeer could roam.

“I want a nice kitchen and a garage for my sleigh.”

“I need a big workshop where elves can work and play.”

“I don’t want to trouble you, but I’m available today.”

“I’ve found forty-nine houses I’d like to see, what do you say?”

My mind was all dazzled with my new prospect at hand.

Was he qualified, would he buy, could I make him a fan?

I stood my ground tall and then showed him my stuff.

I asked him good questions, avoiding the fluff.

“Are you selling North Pole, and must it sell prior?”

“Are you pre-approved, or cash? I must avoid any quagmire!”

Santa looked at me with a great sense of pride.

And said, “Very good lion,” his smile was wide.

“For you didn’t just jump to show me a place.”

“You qualified, questioned, and listened on pace.”

“I knew long ago, you’d be an agent people could rely on.”

“I had to come see for myself, now that you’re a lion.”

He admitted quite quickly he wasn't buying today.

He just wanted to test skills, for when he was ready.

I smiled and thanked him and wished him farewell.

I reminded him kindly I was never busy for his referrals.

Before he was out of the door, I added him to my CRM.

I then sent a follow up note saying it was nice to meet him.

I turned on my car and waved Santa goodbye.

No more clients today, I'd call it a night.

I heard Santa exclaim as he flew out of sight.

“Merry Christmas LAER Realty Partners… and to all a good night.”

- Merry Christmas to you and yours.
