Recently I wrote about an experience my daughter and I had where we were playing tennis while it rained all around us, but not on us. It was magic. In relating my story, a friend said to me, "I wish that magic things happened to me!"
- Instantly accessing a song you love on iTunes
- Millions of movies and shows at your fingertips on streaming TV
- Calling a friend, anytime, anywhere in the world
- Driving for just one hour to put your toes in the ocean
- Listening to an old voicemail of a family member that is deceased
- Buying something you like at the store by presenting a thin plastic card
- Millions of books for free, anytime, at the library
- A Ring video alert when the postman drops a package at the door
- Overnight delivery on anything - ANYTHING!
- Digital photos
- A search engine that can answer just about anything
- Etsy - a site where you can get an afghan made by grandma, even when your grandma is no longer here to make it
- Air conditioning in the summer, and a heater in the winter
- The sun, the moon, the stars, and outer space!
- Space travel
- The changing of the seasons
- Perennials
- Butterflies
The point is, magic surrounds us daily. I think the trick to having more of it in your life is to take notice of the magic that already exists. Imagine that someone was transported from 1921 to 2021. Imagine the magic that they would see. Now, if you could just see it too.
