In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, I've decided to turn the LAER Realty blog into our 30 day gratitude campaign where I will highlight each day some of the reasons I'm so thankful to be part of the LAER community.
Today, after an especially challenging day of deal problems, legal matters, and stress, I turn my focus to the more important parts of the business, namely, the amazing people who I get to associate with on a daily basis.
Today, I'm super thankful for the friendship I've formed with LeeAnne Trohon. LeeAnne is a rock star agent, committed mother, and a learner extraordinaire. About six months ago, she had asked if I would meet with her regularly to help coach her in her business. Her goal, which I know she will reach soon, is to become the number one real estate agent in Danvers. She told me that if I met with her regularly, she'd be committed to getting out of her comfort zone in order to build a bigger and better business. And so, every other Monday at 9am, I meet with LeeAnne. This year she will make the esteemed Ruby Club award level at LAER, closing more than $8M in business. What I'm most thankful for with my friendship with LeeAnne is that I know for certain the coaching that's being done, goes both ways. I have learned a great deal from LeeAnne about better ways to organize the company, and I always walk away 100% inspired.
During this week's session I had told her I was really inspired by a Facebook post she made. Here's the post...

I told her that I thought it was so cool that she was raising kids so committed to kindness. She then told me a story about the wedding she had just been to in Virginia. While her family was shopping in Alexandria, her son, Brendan, saw a homeless man on the street wearing ripped and tattered clothes. So, without any prompting, her son, slipped into a local gift shop, bought a Virginia tourist shirt, and gave it to the homeless man. Tears welled up in LeeAnne's eyes as she told the story, and then they welled up in mine.
I firmly believe that the world is our school and the people in it are our lessons. I've learned a great deal from my time with LeeAnne. There's a circle of giving at LAER Realty partners that's really hard to explain. Every single day, I have numerous examples of random run ins with agents who challenge the way I think, inspire me to better, and who push me to focus on the important things in business and life, even amidst challenges, obstacles, and stress.
The lesson I learned from LeeAnne this week is that the people who change the world are the ones who DO.
It's not enough to wish, hope, and pray for a better world. We must do what it takes to make it better. We must be the doers, like Brendan Trohon. We must be diligent observers of our surroundings and we must be the ones who step up and DO when something needs to change.
Thanks to LeeAnne and Brendan for giving back to our office, to random strangers, and to the world. We are lucky to have you.
