Today's blog is dedicated to people who are resilient. If you are a LAER lion then surely you know Keishla. She handles our marketing and events and she's the go to person for a million other things at LAER. Recently she fell down an entire flight of stairs while out showing a home. It was so bad that she was transported by ambulance to the hospital. It's still unclear how bad the damage is and if she will need surgery, but what is clear is that she cannot walk on that leg. The hospital gave her a boot and some crutches and sent her on her way. Within a day or two, Keishla was back to work in full swing. She bought this peg leg contraption that allows her to walk without putting pressure on her ankle. She bought it because she didn't like that the crutches slowed her down. After all, she's running LAER, her real estate business, and three little kids at home. What's cool about Keishla is that I haven't heard her complain about the injury at all. I have not once heard her ask for extra help because of her injury. Did I mention she's a soccer coach for her son's team? She didn't ask to be replaced because she can't walk. No, Keishla simply keeps on showing up in every aspect of her life every day. In fact, she jokes light heartedly about the injury, and even dressed up as a pirate for Halloween to take advantage of her peg leg. I always tell Keishla that someday she will be the CEO of LAER, because she's got the grit, determination, and ambition to get through anything. Not only does she get through it, she does it with a smile and positive attitude.

The business of real estate is full of people just like Keishla. Most agents get kicked down the proverbial stairs every single day in their business. Solid deals fall apart at the closing table. Perfectly priced homes don't appraise. Buyers we've worked with for 2 years buy through a competitor at an open house. Great real estate agents are just like Keishla. They fall down, make sure nothing's broken, find a makeshift leg if they need to, and then they keep on moving on, smile and all.
I've come to learn that there are two types of people in the world. There are people who have an excuse for everything. They have thousands of reasons why it is not possible for them to be, do, or have anything in the world they want. And then there are the people who absolutely never fall back on excuses. They show up when they say they are going to show up. They follow through on every commitment. And they absolutely, positively, bounce back when life shoves them down a flight of stairs. This blog is dedicated to Keishla, the hundreds of agents like her, and all the people in my life who live resiliently.
